It's safe to say that few other manufacturers of Electric Guitars focus more heavily on the needs of the heavier player than BC Rich. Boasting a huge range of some of the most eye catching designs and shapes of guitars ever seen on stages across the world, BC Rich offer players of all skill levels the ability to stand out from the crowd with instruments designed specifically for the needs of discerning heavy players.
B.C. Rich are the weapons of choice for the indomitable Kerry King for many a year and can be seen (and heard) on Slayer's most recent outing as part of the Big Four tour. Zoltan Bathory of Five Finger Death Punch is another big name in the B.C. Rich roster of Artists. These truly unique guitars are a force to be reckoned with. Can you tame one of these monsters of metal?
Neck-Through Construction
B.C. Rich is known as one of the pioneers in Neck Through construction. They utilize it on many of their guitars, because it provides the best possible sustain, resonance, comfort and access to higher frets. Neck-through has long been considered the premium construction method for high end guitars. This construction starts with premium North American maple or Mahogany and runs from the tip of the headstock to the end of the guitar. This means that the headstock, fingerboard, pickups and bridge all are mounted to this single sound foundation. Sonically it is a difference you can hear. The neck-through construction also allows us to cut away more of the body and neck at the neck joint which provides comfort that no bolt-on or set-neck could offer. You will find the neck through feature on all of our top of the line B.C. Rich models.
Rockfield Pickups - SWV
Bridge Pickups:
SWV is short for Select Wound Vintage. Everybody has them. Why? Because they kick ASS! This is where some say it all started and came from. A changing of the guard if you will in the future engineering of guitars and guitar pickups. If it wasn't for the original PAF design, who knows where we all would be? With all that being said, this pickup rings true of that vintage tone we speak of with of course, a Rockfield twist. We again went to specific people in the know and found out herds of info about how the originals were made. That along with our knowledge made for a great combination and tonally a blast from the past. A warm singing and smooth replication of classic PAF style tones that are clear and ring like church bells on Sunday afternoon.
Neck Pickups:
This pickup is perfect in the neck position of any guitar where there is a need to get that sought after warm, thick vintage PAF tone. This versatile neck position pickup takes from its vintage brethren a unique and bold tone that is smooth, warm and balanced from top to bottom. The Rockfield SWV neck position humbucker is sweet and full with great lows, mids and ringing highs.
Deep Arched Top
A deep arched top is used on several B.C. Rich models. The deep arch is achieved by increasing the body center by approximately 5/8" and then gently sloping the arch toward the side of the instrument and leveling out just as the slope reaches the edge. A deep arch top when applied to a B.C. Rich shape gives an air of elegance and sophistication. Many of the B.C. Rich Handcrafted instruments are requested with a deep arch top style. This year B.C. Rich is offering more deep arch tops in their production models in a variety of shapes and colors.
