Key Features
Product Ref: 105212
The SRC6 from Ibanez’s Bass Workshop features a lightweight mahogany body, elegant contours, and a smooth design, creating an incredibly comfortable instrument with sweet, warm tonal characteristics. As well as appearance, the Ibanez also features a double-cutaway body shape which allows easier access to the higher frets to deliver incredible flexibility across the entire fingerboard.
This unique bass is fitted with a smooth 5-piece jatoba and walnut neck, offering an incredibly comfortable play while providing excellent stability to prevent against warping or twisting over time. The neck is paired with a jatoba fingerboard which enhances the overall projection, offering a strong, hard character to add extra punch and a subtle amount of brightness. The fingerboard features 24 medium frets and is decorated with abalone oval inlays for added elegance.
The Ibanez SRC bass has a scale of 30'' as opposed to a 34'' bass, this is commonly referred to as a 'short scale' bass. This shorter scale allows guitarists who either double as bassists, or even those looking at becoming a bassist, to feel more at home on an instrument that closely resembles a guitar.
The SRC6 is equipped with a set of EMG’s 35HZ pickups, which are built with a humbucking design to offer low noise and plenty of output. Both pickups are constructed with ceramic bar magnets which are coupled with steel, offering a beautifully warm tone with a smooth attack. Its midrange also features a massive response, delivering the punch and fulness of classic passive pickups with extra brightness for added definition. Originally designed for 4-stirng basses, the 35HZ’s feature solid bar poles which cover the entire width of the pickup, making them ideal for this 6-string bass.
One of the most unique features of the SRC6 Bass is Ibanez’s custom electronics, featuring a 3-band EQ, volume control, and balancer to provide the maximum control over shaping and crafting the tone of your guitar. The EQ section features controls over the treble, mids, and bass, allowing you to mould every nuance of your sound to create the perfect sound for your playing.
Ibanez's SR series Bass features a low-profile bridge that was originally designed for guitars, offering tighter string alignment and a thinner fingerboard for a truly comfortable playing feel. Each saddle is securely locked onto the base plate, maximising the string vibrations transmitted to the body for the ultimate sound. Designed for the perfect amount of rigidness and accuracy, the bridge’s saddle height can also be adjusted with one screw for the optimum comfort and sound.
Over the past 30 years, Ibanez have always been at the forefront of developing the right tools for players pushing the boundaries of music. For decades, Ibanez designers and luthiers have been the embodiment of this ideology, pushing their skills to the edge of imagination, consistently creating some of the most versatile and unique instruments ever. Ibanez basses have been used on some of modern rock's most poignant albums of recent years. The preferred instruments of many awe-inspiring bass players, amongst them Fieldy from Korn, Paul Gray from Slipknot and Peter Iwers of In Flames, Ibanez Basses continue to be the first stop for learners and professionals alike, no matter what musical genre they exist in.
