The EC-1008 is powered by a pair of active EMG pickups, which consist of an EMG 81 in the bridge position and an EMG 60 at the neck. The EMG 81 is an intense and incredibly high output pickup, which provides a blistering sound with plenty of high end cut. The EMG 81/60 pairing is a match made in rock heaven as the EMG 60 in neck position produces an exceptionally clear sound with harmonic highs and full lows.
Mahogany as a body tonewood creates a warm and rich tone with excellent depth. It also offers durability and a tone which will mature over the years, for a long lasting investment. The resonant tone makes it an ideal companion for punchy rock music. In addition, the EC Series body shape also features a single cutaway, which allows easier access to the higher frets and more flexibility across the whole fingerboard.
The EC-1008's neck is made from 3-piece mahogany, which is sturdy, durable and more resistant to warping than the classic 1-piece. The mahogany neck offers a rich and resonant sound with plenty of warmth. It also has a punchy mid-range emphasis, and the macassar ebony fingerboard brings added sustain and snappy attack which complements the mahogany's deeper tone.
8 String Guitars offer an extended range for an incredibly versatile performance. They are favoured in rock and metal music styles, due to the ability to add extra low tonalities to power chords without the need for excessive tuning. The guitar also features a baritone scale length, which offers a snappy and punchier tone than a classic shorter scale guitar.
ESP guitars are quite possibly the most revered manufacturer of heavy metal electric guitars and basses. ESP and its LTD brand are the first stop for many heavy metal icons, including James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Jeff Hanneman of Slayer, Jef Kendrick and Mike Spreitzer of Devil Driver as well as some of Rock's most beloved characters like George Lynch and The Rolling Stones' Ron Wood.
