The FSR 70s Precision Bass features a solid ash wood body, delivering a classic Fender twang with sweet, airy tones. The lightweight ash provides the guitar with excellent resonance and sustain, offering firm lows, pleasing highs, and a scooped midrange. The bass is finished off with original-era 1970s P-bass styling, featuring a host of vintage inspired components from its vintage-style bridge, 3-ply black pickguard, and chrome hardware.
The bass’ ash body is paired with a thick 70s ‘’C’’ maple neck, which offers incredible comfort and speed ideal for versatile playing styles. The thick ‘’C’’ shape is designed with more substantial shoulders than most other profiles, providing a natural feel ideal for chords and single notes. The maple tonewood provides the Fender with a beautifully bright characteristic, tightening up the overall tones and delivering plenty of cut and bite. Using maple for both the neck and fingerboard provides players with a sharp, clear punch when the strings are hit hard, while light to medium picking brings out the subtler tones of the maple.
The Fender FSR Precision Bass is equipped with a single Vintage split-coil pickup in the middle, designed to the same specifications of the original pickups featured on P-Basses of the 70s. This pickup is built using alnico V magnets arranged across two coils with a reverse wind reverse polarity setup, delivering hum free tones with extra focus and a wide dynamic range. For added authenticity, each pickup is designed using original tolling and techniques to create a truly unique sound in every set.
Featuring a carefully fitted synthetic bone nut, the Fender FSR Precision Bass delivers an increased resonance and bright tonality. When compared to traditional plastic and Tusq materials used to construct guitar nuts, synthetic bone improves the vibration transfer between the string and tuning machines without dampening the tone.
Debuted in late 1951, the Precision Bass guitar was not only Fender's first bass guitar, it was the world's first bass guitar and a new kind of instrument. The Precision Bass (often shortened to P-Bass), has spent well over half a century at the very heart of music everywhere. With its two-horned solid body and fretted neck, the Precision Bass profoundly revolutionised music. Reigning ever since as a must-have instrument, this elegantly simple and enormously powerful instrument is the worldwide standard for bass tonality, performance, reliability and overall excellence.
