Designed by Michel Arrignon, the Buffet Tosca is an example of the skills the highly experienced craftsmen acquire. Tosca's favoured characteristics include rich harmonies, flexibility and ease of response. The poly-cylindrical bore shape became a huge hit in the USA before becoming a favourite among many professional clarinetists and experienced amateur musicians. Favored for its focused and rich tone combined with its ability to play throughout all registers evenly, the bore is extremely versatile and can be played in a variety of musical styles - from orchestras to military bands to jazz. The Buffet Tosca uses grenadilla wood found from African blackwood. This is then treated and stained to produce a body with fantastic tone and projection, but also durability.
Unlike other models, the Tosca features an African Blackwood (otherwise known as Grenadilla) body. The benefit from this wood body is the unprecedented tone, which is favoured by all professional musicians and has been the professional choice of wood for decades.
The Buffet Tosca clarinet has a simple design featuring 19 keys and 6 rings. All keywork is silver or gold plated, which is long lasting and ergonomic - allowing ease of play for busy professionals. This combined with an adjustable thumb rest, makes the Tosca very nice to play. All tone holes have been undercut and combined with leather and natural cork pads, creating a great seal with better intonation and tonal character.
The Buffet Clarinet range comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience from some of the finest craftsmen in the world. Made in Markneukirchen in Germany, this clarinet will ensure many years of hassle free playing through its ease to service and maintain.
The clarinets come with a variety of accessories that you need to get going. Firstly, the instruments come with a double case, which makes transporting the clarinets to concerts and rehearsals very easy. They also include Buffet ligatures and reeds.
Buffet have been manufacturing instruments since 1825 and are world famous for their clarinets. When purchasing Buffet instruments you are guaranteed constant high-quality as all products are made in either French or German workshops. All workers start as apprentices to learn everything they need to from highly skilled craftspeople, however the most important skills are dedication, passion and patience. Since the beginning, almost every Buffet instrument has been continuously tested and developed. Listening to their players' needs, Buffet has adapted their instruments to cope with modern demands.
