The YTR8340 is the result of a long partnership between Yamaha and Japanese-American trumpet legend Eric Miyashiro. Having toured worldwide with Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, and Stevie Wonder, Mr. Miyashiro has now settled in Japan, and is one of the most in-demand soloists in the world. His piercing, wide open sound means he sought a trumpet with excellent projection and great response - a lead tone which can cut right through a big band or orchestra. Mr Miyashiro's unique input, paired with the know-how of Yamaha's best brass engineers, has resulted in an expressive, top-class lead trumpet.
Special features
The YTR8340 has been built with a wider bell diameter, gracing it with better projection and a wider dynamic range. A side seam runs along the bell, meeting the points where tubing braces dampen vibrations, giving the instrument an open resonance and further improving its projection. A French bead is also applied to the bell - an advanced technique that results in a flat-domed rim shape, instead of a traditional round bell rim. This improves the feedback of sound to the performer. A unique multi-bore system relieves back pressure when the piston is depressed, rerouting pressure through the large-bore valve slide.
